Abstract

The article examines the symbols of apples and pomegranates in the films of Sergey Paradzhanov. The author of the article points out that the director Sergey Paradzhanov did not immediately come to the symbol of the pomegranate in the course of his creative
evolution. He began his independent creative activity at a film studio in Kiev and the metaphor of an apple is noticeable in his first large works. In this case, the continuity of the video sequence with the film of the classic of Ukrainian cinema Alexander Dovzhenko
"Earth" is obvious. The apple symbol was actively used in their films by other Soviet filmmakers: Tarkovsky, Khutsiev. In the second half of the 1960s. The metaphor of apples in our cinema has already been sufficiently played up, and Sergey Paradzhanov has found
a new image — a pomegranate. In 1968, Sergei Paradzhanov shoots the film "The Color of Pomegranate" and it was in this film that Sergei Paradzhanov finally found his author's face. This paper presents an essentially new look at films by Sergei Paradzhanov.
